![]() He was a man once.” Story from hereĬedar is a holy tree to many people across this vast land known as North America (as demonstrated in the story above) and for good reason. The cedar already knows what’s needed to bring harmony because he was a man who knew how to help people. “When you just don’t feel too good for hardly any reason at all, you can burn cedar in your home and you’ll feel better. “When children are restless in a home, burning cedar calms them down. Burning dried cedar on coals creates smoke and we can pray with that smoke - it carries our prayers up to the Heavens. “There are many uses for cedar - it stays green year round, so it can be gathered and dried at any time. “So the Creator turned the man into a cedar tree.” I could use someone like him to be helping out all the time. “At long last, when the man’s hair had turned to snow, and the days ahead were becoming fewer, the Creator thought, ‘All these years I’ve watched him help my people. “Many years went by in this way and all the while the Creator watched this man and took note of his virtues. Every day he remained alert to what he could do to help his tribe, and he did so with good humor and enthusiasm. “And there were many more good deeds he performed that no one knew of, because he never sought praise or attention for his actions. “If a child’s family was killed, he would take that child in and raise it as his own. “A young couple getting married could count on him to help make their tipi poles and gather the hides needed to cover their lodge. ![]() “When the elders could no longer hunt for themselves, he would bring them food. “A long time ago, there lived a human being who always went out of his way to help the people of his village. I hope this clears things up on that front! Happy Reading! I would speak the same way about ancient Europeans. Any reference to how these plants were once used is simply me referencing the texts that I have read from and not negating that these plants are still used to this day in the same manner. I agree completely, in fact I am friends with quite a few Anishinaabek people and I would never insinuate that these traditions are from the past only. Secondly, I have had a few comments that I need to not speak of Native Americans in the past tense because obviously Native Americans are still here. I have another blog all on White Pine right here. I have really come to love and cherish White Pine Bark tea as my daily beverage during the winter months as it is also chock full of vitamin C and has a few other handy dandy phytochemicals that help us during our long winters, but it is also extremely safe to drink. This is an excellent thing for serious health conditions like scurvy setting in, but probably not the best thing to be drinking on a regular basis. ![]() ![]() This tea should definitely only be drank occasionally as it is so very potent. First and foremost, Cedar tea is like bringing out the big guns. That being said there are a few additional facts that I would love to share with you if you are going to use Cedar tea that I was not aware of when I first wrote this article. Thousands of people are reading this blog every single month. This article was already popular before the Rona stepped on the scene, but now it has just gotten ridiculous. Well, It has been almost two years since I originally wrote up this little article on Cedar and to my utter surprise it has become one of the most read articles about the subject of Cedar tea on the internet. ![]()
